Why Prosecutors has dropped case of alleged corruption in Real Madrid’s clash with Barcelona?

Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has dropped the investigation to probe the alleged corruption   in Real Madrid’s clash with Barcelona in November, due to lack of evidence.

Ahead of El-Clasico, which is considered as biggest fixture on the Spanish Football calendar, an unnamed assistant referee claimed that he had been instructed by the Referees’ Technical Committee to give the decision in the favor of Real Madrid which was held at  Santiago Bernabeu on November 21.

However, Real Madrid ended up losing 4-0, in the one of most one sided affair in the recent history of Clasico.

Proceedings were carried on by  an anti-corruption office in Barcelona, to probe the validity of the outrageous claim made by the La-Liga official, and now Royal Spanish Football Federation has dismissed the investigation, as they failed to find proper evidence.

The Referees’ Technical Committee of the RFEF hereby informs the public that the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s office in Barcelona has concluded the investigation procedures related to the complaint lodged with it and the Guardia Civil, relating to the alleged pressure made by a member of the CTA on a certain number of referees and assistant referees, the possible candidates to be appointed for a certain football match.

Why Prosecutors has dropped case of alleged corruption in Real Madrid's clash with Barcelona?As a result of the above, the office has proceeded to archive the complaint referred to, on the grounds that it lacks the sufficient evidence to prosper.

“This is placed on record for the knowledge of the sporting world and the footballing world in particular.”

In the aftermath of official’s claims, La Liga president Javier Tebas insisted that he considered the nature of the allegations implausible, given the fact refereeing team for the Real- Barca clash was not appointed, when the reports of alleged  corruption surfaced.
